Golf Club Director of Golf (Thailand)

Job Overview

The role is to Oversee all AGS managed clubs’ performance and support the onsite General Managers.

As Business Unit Head, you must approach your work with energy and enthusiasm providing inspirational and creative leadership and setting an example to ensure the golf courses under AGS management consistently maintains the highest standards of integrity, customer service, operational efficiency, effectiveness, safety & presentation. You must engaged with GM and club’s employees setting the standards, which comply with the service culture, the leadership and management attributes elaborated in the Strategic Plans and HR Standards documents.

The position requires an understanding that staying ahead of the competition in an ever changing social and technical environment requires the courage and sensibility to challenge the status quo and to embrace and implement change while support the clubs to operate within approved budgets.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Support and develop the highest performance of all clubs under AGS management, ensuring they all can achieve KPI’s, which they understand and against which they are measured annually.

  • Support the development, adaptation, and implementation of SOPs for all department functions at AGS managed clubs, which ensure that all employees fully understand their responsibilities and deliverables.

  • Represent Absolute Golf Services favorably in all business and social communication and attend or speak at events which enhance the reputation.

  • Build business units that operates smoothly and efficiently even in the absence of AGS team

  • Ensure employee grievances, non-performance and disciplinary issues are handled promptly by the club’s GM and in consultation with AGS Managing Director.

  • Be active and deliver positive participation in the regular meetings.

  • Implement the club’s induction programme for all new clubs’ GM, who must be made welcome, introduced to the team members and understand their roles and responsibilities.

  • Make sure that the each golf club’s operation is in compliance with all government laws and regulations and permits are updated.

  • Participation in relevant Management Committees as and when needed.

  • Support club’s GM on any malpractice situation which may damage AGS managed clubs’ assets and reputation.

  • Act as task force Manager as and when needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support AGS managed clubs’ GM in preparation of the golf operations annual budget and once approved, support the team to achieve the results

  • Support AGS managed clubs’ GM’s on the golf operations monthly action plan, monitor and analyse results, implement corrective action where necessary

  • Lead the weekly management meeting with club’s GM and relay relevant information on the club’s operations

  • Present monthly reports to AGS’ MD in the required format for the golf’s business, as required.

  • Support AGS managed clubs’ FM to develop adapt and implement SOPs for all golf events.

  • Be AGS Ambassador and spokesperson for all golf related external communication.

  • The effective management of external service providers and their contracts

  • Ensuring the golf operation is fully ready for operational service before club’s opening on the pre-opening service contracts.

  • Engaging with members and guests formally and informally to identify complaints and areas for service improvement.

  • Ensure the deliverance at the highest level of presentation in all areas of the AGS managed golf facilities.

  • Initiating and presenting opportunities for events; leading the marketing of green fees and all other marketing activities, and providing quarterly goals for new revenue growth.

  • Actively develop with the Sales & Marketing team highly effective S&M plans and strategies to drive business and awareness for all clubs under AGS management.

  • Review ordering of all golf operations supplies, equipment and services with each club’s GM according to the annual approved budget.

Qualification and Competency

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

Experiences

  • 5 years with a successful track record as Golf Operations Manager or Director of Golf in a leading club in Thailand

  • Poses a strong understanding of golf club / resort operations
